” ‘You want to play house, you got to have a job. You want to play very nice house, very sweet house, then you got to have a job you don’t like. Great. This is the way ninety-eight-point-nine percent of the people work things out, so believe me, buddy, you’ve got nothing to apologize for.’ ” – Richard Yates, Revolutionary Road
“If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger.” – Emily Bronte, Wuthering Heights

If you could interview any author, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Jane Austen. I think she’s really underrated in modern society, where she’s seen as trite and verbose. But she is considered one of the greats for a reason, and I would love to know what it was like for her – doing what she loved (writing) but receiving no real recognition for it during her lifetime (she wrote anonymously), yet she paved the way for the modern novel and women in literature.
